TP Solar’s Manufacturing Performance Analyzed

TP Solar, a part of Tata Power Renewable Energy, has been doing really well making solar panels. From April 2025 to December 2025, they created a huge amount – 2.8 gigawatts (GW) of solar cells and 2.9 GW of solar modules. This is a massive increase in their production capacity.

Specifically, in the third quarter of the year (Q3 FY26), they made 940 MW of solar cells – that’s nearly five times more than they did during the same period last year (196 MW). Their module production also increased by about 7%, going from 927 MW to 990 MW.

This means TP Solar is getting really good at making solar panels, and they’re building up their operations quickly. They have a giant factory in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, that’s designed to create 4.3 GW of solar cells and modules.

What’s even more impressive is that the factory is mainly staffed by women – almost 80%! Tata Power invested a lot of money, around Rs 4,300 crore, to build this factory. This investment is a big step towards making India self-sufficient in solar technology.

The factory uses the latest technology, including TOPCon and Mono PERC, to create solar modules that meet Indian standards (ALMM certified). They’re also producing cells made here in India (DCR modules).

This is part of Tata Power’s plan to help India reduce its carbon footprint and become a leader in renewable energy. It highlights the importance of strong domestic manufacturing capabilities.
