Rural Economic Revival Analyzed

NABARD’s latest survey shows rural India is getting healthier and wealthier. The survey, taken every two months since September 2024, reveals a big increase in spending and income for farmers and villagers. This is a good sign for the overall economy.

The survey’s key finding is that people in rural areas are buying more. About 80% of these households said they were spending more money than they were before. This means families have more money to spend on things like food, clothes, and tools.

Another important factor is that people are actually earning more. Roughly 67% of their monthly income is being spent on buying things. This increase has been helped by changes in taxes (GST) which make things cheaper.

NABARD believes this strong demand is happening because people actually have the money to spend. It’s not just a temporary boost – it’s a real, lasting improvement in the way things are going in rural India.

Government support, like programs that help farmers, and investments in infrastructure (roads, bridges, etc.) are also helping to speed things up.
