Hadda Sewage Treatment Plant Analyzed: A Key Saudi Project
Saudi Arabia is building a new, really big sewage treatment plant in Hadda, and a group of companies is going to do it. The Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) chose this group, called the Developer Consortium, as the best to build it. This is a really important project for the country’s water system.
Key Points
- Developer Consortium wins Hadda ISTP project, a major Saudi deal.
- Metito, Etihad, and SkyBridge form the group building the plant.
- Plant capacity expands from 100,000 to 250,000 cubic meters daily.
- A huge pipeline will transport treated water – 350,000 cubic meters.
- 25-year plan with a ‘build, own, operate, transfer’ approach for investors.
- Wabag is the main engineering company, driving the overall project.
About the Project
The Hadda Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (ISTP) will clean up dirty water. It’s going to be a huge plant, starting with the ability to treat 100,000 cubic meters of water each day. But it can grow to treat 250,000 cubic meters!
A special system will reuse the cleaned water – that’s water that’s been cleaned and can be used again. Think of it like watering a huge garden with clean water.
To get the water to where it’s needed, they’ll build a very long pipe – 38 kilometers – that can move 350,000 cubic meters of water each day. This will help protect the environment and provide clean water for people.
Who is Involved?
The Developer Consortium is made up of four important companies: Metito Utilities Limited, Etihad Water and Electricity Company PJSC, and SkyBridge Limited Company. Va Tech Wabag is helping with the design and building of the plant.
Rohan Mittal, who leads strategy for Wabag in the Middle East, said they’re excited about the project. He believes it’s a chance to show how well Wabag can do in Saudi Arabia.
Financial Results
Va Tech Wabag had a really good quarter. Their profits increased by 22% and their sales went up by 12.5%. The company’s stock price went up by 0.92% to 1305.65 on the BSE.
This project demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s commitment to modernizing its water infrastructure for a sustainable future.
