Anantam Highways InvIT Successfully Listed – Analyzed
Dilip Buildcon has successfully launched Anantam Highways InvIT, a special investment vehicle for roads. This InvIT, backed by Dilip Buildcon and Alpha Alternatives, allows investors to own a share in infrastructure projects. It’s like a professionally managed investment fund focused solely on highways.
- InvITs offer investment in infrastructure projects like highways.
- Dilip Buildcon contributes assets, while Alpha Alternatives sponsors it.
- Anantam InvIT raised funds through a strong public offering.
- Investors include major firms like WhiteOak Capital and Reliance.
- The InvIT owns seven highway projects totaling ₹4,500 crore.
- Expansion plans aim for a portfolio worth ₹20-30 billion.
The InvIT was listed on both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), making it easier for anyone to buy and sell shares. It raised money from many big investors – including firms like WhiteOak Capital, SBI Capital Markets, Edelweiss Life Insurance, Reliance General Insurance, and Minerva Ventures Fund. The initial sale of shares (called a “public issue”) was very popular, with investors buying 5.62 times more shares than were available.
Specifically, the “Qualified Institutional Buyer” group (investors who meet specific requirements) bought shares 2.86 times more than offered, and the group of investors who weren’t big institutions bought shares 8.93 times more. This shows strong interest from both large and wealthy investors.
Currently, Anantam InvIT manages seven highway projects that Dilip Buildcon developed. These projects are worth about ₹4,500 crore in total and are expected to continue generating income for many years – about 13 years on average. The InvIT plans to grow its portfolio even further, aiming to add more highway projects across India worth between ₹20 billion and ₹30 billion over the next few years.
Investing in infrastructure through InvITs provides a structured way to participate in the growth of India’s transportation network.
