Compressed Bio Gas Plant Project Analyzed

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), in partnership with Bengaluru Solid Waste Management (BSWML), has started a new project to make Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) from waste. This project, officially started on October 16, 2025, uses a large area in Bengaluru to turn garbage into a useful gas. It’s a big step toward cleaner energy and managing waste better.

The plant is located in the KCDC area of Haralakunte Village, Bengaluru South Taluk. It’s getting 18 acres of land to operate. BSWML will provide a huge amount of waste – 300 tons each day. This waste will then be used to make CBG, producing about 12.6 tons of CBG every day.

But it doesn’t stop there! The plant also makes Fermented Organic Manure (FOM) – around 22 tons a day. This FOM can be used to help grow crops, which is great for the environment and local farmers. This whole operation helps with the “SATAT” and “Swachh Bharat Mission” goals of India.

The agreement lasts for 25 years once the plant begins working. This means the city and the companies are committed to keeping the plant running and benefiting the environment for a very long time.
