JSW Steel’s Production Performance Analyzed

JSW Steel made 7.48 million tonnes of steel in the third quarter of the current year (Q3 FY26). This is 6% more than they made last year (Q3 FY25) when they produced 7.03 million tonnes. However, their steel production actually went down by 5% compared to the previous quarter. This shows a mixed picture for the company.

Key Points

  • Increased overall steel production by 6% year-over-year to 7.48M tonnes.
  • Sequential steel production fell 5% due to BF3 shutdown.
  • Indian operations grew 7% to 7.28M tonnes of steel.
  • JSW Steel USAOhio production decreased 4.76% to 0.20M tonnes.
  • BF3 upgrade impacting Indian capacity utilization (85%) vs. 93% overall.
  • Nine-month production rose 12% to 22.65M tonnes for fiscal year.

Indian Operations Update

The main part of JSW Steel, operating in India, made 7.28 million tonnes of steel during this time. This was a good increase of 7% compared to the previous year. But, their production slowed down by 5% when compared to the last three months.

USAOhio Production

Their factory in Ohio, USA, produced 0.20 million tonnes of steel – that’s a drop of 4.76% from last year. This part of the company isn’t growing as quickly.

Blast Furnace 3 Shutdown

A key part of their factory, called Blast Furnace 3 (BF3), was closed for upgrades. It was shut down at the end of September 2025 and isn’t expected to be working again until the end of Q4 FY26. This meant they couldn’t make as much steel as they could have.

Capacity Numbers

Without BF3, they were using 93% of their factory’s capacity. With BF3 working, it was only 85%. This shows the impact of the upgrade work.

Overall Company Performance

Over nine months, JSW Steel made 22.65 million tonnes of steel – that’s a 12% increase from the previous year. This company is part of a large group called JSW Group, which does lots of different things like energy and building things. Their profits were up a lot too – by 269.7%!

Increased revenue by 13.77% to Rs 45,152 crore, reflecting strong market demand.
