Hadda ISTP Project Analyzed: A Key Investment Opportunity
Va Tech Wabag, along with a team of experts, has won the chance to build a major new water treatment plant in Saudi Arabia. This project, called the Hadda Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (ISTP), is a big deal for the country. It’s being done through a partnership between several companies, and will significantly improve water management.
Key Points
- WABAG selected as preferred EPC partner for the Hadda ISTP.
- Saudi Arabia’s SWPC chose the developer consortium for the project.
- 25-year BOOT model ensures long-term operational responsibility.
- Plant treats 100,000 m³/day, expandable to 250,000 m³/day sewage.
- Includes TSE reuse system with a 38km transmission pipeline.
- Project starts after agreements and financial closure are finalized.
Project Details
The Hadda ISTP is a large project designed to clean up sewage water. The project will use a “Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer” (BOOT) model for 25 years. This means the group building the plant will manage it for that time, and then give it back to the government.
The plant itself will be really big, starting with the ability to clean 100,000 cubic meters of sewage water per day. But it can be expanded to handle 250,000 cubic meters! It will also have a system to reuse the cleaned water and a huge pipe to move it – 38 kilometers long and capable of moving 350,000 cubic meters of water daily.
Timeline and Next Steps
The developers are still working on the final details. They need to sign agreements and get money set aside before they can actually start building. Once everything is in place, they’ll announce the official start date.
This Hadda ISTP project represents a strategic investment in Saudi Arabia’s water infrastructure development.
