Great Eastern Shipping Acquisition Analyzed

Great Eastern Shipping (GES) is planning to expand its fleet by purchasing a large tanker. They’ve agreed to buy a 84,048 cbm Very Large Gas Carrier built in 2015 by South Korea. This ship is set to join their fleet around the fourth quarter of their financial year 2026, and the company will pay for it entirely using money they’ve saved.

GES currently owns 40 ships. Twenty-six of these are tankers: six are designed to carry crude oil, sixteen carry refined products, and four are specialized for transporting liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The remaining 14 vessels are dry bulk carriers, used to transport goods like grain and coal.

Importantly, GES’s fleet is currently running very close to full capacity. This means they are already carrying almost all the goods they can handle at this time. Adding this new ship will help them meet growing demand and increase their ability to transport goods efficiently.
