Left-Wing Extremism Policy Analyzed

The Indian government has announced a new, tough approach to dealing with left-wing extremist groups. They’re setting a goal to completely eliminate this problem by next March. This comes after decades of struggling to control these groups, which previous governments often saw as mainly a problem for individual states to handle.

To put this plan into action, the government is sending in large teams of soldiers called CAPF. They’re also giving a lot of money – around ₹3,523 crore and ₹3,848 crore – to states and other organizations to help with security. This money is going toward building roads and improving security.

Specifically, the government has built over 17,000 new police stations and created more than 17,000 kilometers of new roads. They’ve also put up over 10,000 new mobile phone towers to improve communication and surveillance. These efforts are meant to create a more secure environment.

Importantly, the government says that violent incidents have fallen dramatically. Before, there were more than 16,000 dangerous events happening each year. Now, there are about 7,000. Also, the number of people who died in these attacks has decreased by 70%.

This new strategy shows that the government believes it can make a real difference in reducing the threat of left-wing extremism.
